SPDIF Transmitter and receiver?

I want to take the SPDIF output of my PC and transmit it to a remote AV amp. If neccessary I have a high spped wireless LAN and the router is next to the AV amp.

I've seen a Maplin transmitter with an SPDIF output (doesn't say what the input is r how the box works) and I was wondering if anyone could make some suggestions of products to look at?

SPDIF is not suitable for wireless operation, the SPDIF converters you can get will convert between optical and coax or vice versa.
You might be able to find something that will allow you to send it over Cat5 (not as an ethernet signal though) but a wireless solution would be very difficult.

Many thanks - very much appreciated.

The only reason why I was focussing on the SPDIF outpout on the PC was that this was the only output that left control of switching sound output to software on the PC. I want to control output via software rather than plug connection and disconnection. The RCA and headphone sockets disabled the internal speakers and meant that I'd have to connect and disconnect plugs manually - difficult in a situation where sockets are a bit inaccessible.

The maplin box I'm looking at is this:

Do you think that the signal from the PC travels alongside the broadband transmission to the broadband hub and then out to the maplin box connected to the AV? It's not clear?! But it says "WPA / WPA2 PSK and WEP 64/128bit encryption for secure use " so implies to me it works through the hub. If so it would look like it would work.
